Baby Watch Day 5, 6, and… 7?

I’m writing this on day 7 of Baby Watch 2010 ™ about an hour before the Magster and I are supposed to go to a midwife’s appointment where a) they will hog-tie Maggie and convince us to induce the labor NOW! (according to our doula), or b) they will be giving us an ultrasound – seeing how big our giant baby has become, “scrape the membranes” (don’t ask), and discuss our options for moving forward – including induction.

The past 3 days have been filled with more and more of the waiting game, and both of us are pretty sick of it.  I’ve gotten some great feedback from many mother and father friends of ours about how late their respective babies were and tried to ignore all of it.  I definitely don’t mention it to Maggie who has reached the pinnacle of baby impatience, whereby a mention in passing of another friend’s late baby triggers either voluminous rage or desperate tears (ok, I’m over-dramatizing that a lot).

We are hoping that today’s midwife appointment will result in baby Andie realizing how little we enjoy her incubation, and force her to burst onto the scene in a rapid and relatively painless birth reminiscent of a birthing scene in a soap opera or television commercial.  That would be swell.  We’ll keep you posted… or hopefully, we won’t keep you posted.
